The Model 700 "Centenary Ericofon" is the world's first solid-state one-piece telephone. Also, and perhaps more important for the subscriber, Centenary Ericofon is an introduction to HIGH FIDELITY tele-communications.. In 1976, a third version was introduced, namely "Model 700". It is very different compared to earlier Ericofons, mainly by its squarish design. This model was part of the centennial celebration of the LM Ericsson company. It was only produced in Sweden. At the same time, the Ericofon 700 was also offered. This updated version with a keypad in the base was designed in 1976 to celebrate Ericsson’s centenary. Without doubt, a design classic, recognised by the New York Museum of Modern Art as one of the best industrial designs of the 20th century.

The Ericofon 700 (or 'Centenary' version as it was called by Ericsson) was a more angular design than the 600 series it replaced (see W.9-2003). It had a push button key-pad, rather than a dial, on its base. It became part of the British Telecom Special range in 1980.

There are only 5 different Ericofon 700’s if I am well informed. In the past couple of months I was able to get 2. In fact I was never intending to collect them because I fell in love with the old 600 model. But, as always, lines blur and you get carried away. They are also equiped with the 2 different dial faces there are for the 700 model. Björn Lundvall, president of Ericsson 1964-1977 and chairman of the board 1977-1980.
